CHEMTILE GP 44

CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive, is a polymer modified cement based thin bed adhesive for fixing Ceramic tiles.

Uses: CHEMTILE GP 44 a high quality adhesive for the permanent fixing of ceramic tiles for vertical and horizontal applications. It is also suitable for use in damp and totally submerged conditions, e.g. swimming pools. It can also be used for fixing of insulating and acoustic boards made of expanded polystyrene, etc. CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive is more suitable for internal applications.

Instructions

  • Surface Preparation : All surfaces must be sound and thoroughly clean before CHEMTILE GP 44 is applied. All traces of greases or oil must be removed with suitable degreaser. All loose particles of mortar, old wallpaper, print etc., must be physically removed.
  • Mixing : CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive should be mixed with water in the ratio of 3:1. Water can be reduced or increased slightly to achieve required consistency. A slow speed drill fitted with a suitable mixing paddle is recommended. Hand mixing may also be resorted to if small quantities are mixed. (Note: Use of chilled water in extreme temperatures will increase open time of CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive). CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive is spread on the substrate to a uniform thickness of 2 - 3 mm. This is then combed horizontally with a notch trowel. The tiles are then placed firmly into the adhesive bed ensuring good contact with the mortar by a twisting motion. Choose work areas so that they can be tiled in adhesive's open wet time of approx. 20 mins at 350C.
  • Surfaces :CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive can be applied directly on concrete, cement screeds, cement or lime mortars provided they are strong. Note: CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive should not be used on gypsum or gypsum board substrates.
  • Finishing :Remove the excess material with a damp cloth before it sets. Joint grouting may be commenced 24 hours after tiles have been fixed using CHEMTILE TG Or CHEMTILE EPOXY GROUT tile joint filler.

Estimating

  • Packaging : CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive is supplied in 20 kg and 30 kg paper bags.
  • Coverage : Approximately 3.8 kg of CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive is required per sq.m when uniformly applied at 2mm thick.
  • Storage : CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive must be stored in a cool dry place.
  • Shelf life : 6 months in unopened bags under normal warehouse conditions.

Precautions

  • Health & Safety : CHEMTILE GP 44 tile adhesive is cement based and hence alkaline. Care should be taken to avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes during use.
